So I've been avoiding LJ lately. Not that I don't like LJ land, I've just been low on energy and all and really just much to "blah" for anything. I think it is the weather. That or my serotonin.

I'm pretty pissed right now. The vet has lost my father's dog and in all likelihood he is dead. Damn it. Stupid incompetent bastards! This is a very young dog - still a puppy even - a big puppy - but a baby (since he was a stray we don't know his exact age - except we thought he was about a year old when he first showed up last year -and then realized he still had his milk teeth - then he tripled his body weight - he was dubbed a knucklehead because he was so damn goofy - then we figured out that he wasn't goofy, just a huge puppy - unfortunately the name Knucklehead stuck). He was sick and daddy took him to the vet - he'd lost several pounds and was dehydrated and the vet kept him to give him IV fluids and the like. Daddy didn't call to check on him Sunday - figured the office was busy. He called early this morning and they apologize but yesterday someone took the puppy for a walk and he slipped his collar and ran away. The vet's office is in the middle of the country. It snowed several inches last night. They never called my father to tell him his puppy ran away. Did I mention that the puppy was a stray? He is shy around strangers - he is getting better, but will still hold back. No one called my dad out to look for the puppy - and I don't see how he survived the night as sick as he was. Dad thinks the puppy ran off to die by himself and is now covered in snow. He already searched the older farm (the one he originally found Knucklehead at)and couldn't find him. This is just pitiful. I am angry at the gross incompetence of this vet's office. Mom says that they did everything that they could have, but she is wrong and wants to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. I feel there are at least 2 areas where the vets office breached their duty and failed to act in a prudent manner:
1. Taking a juvenile dog outside into a non-secured area and trusting that his collar is sufficiently tight enough that he won't get loose - when you are well aware that said dog has lost a significant number of lbs rapidly in the course of his illness. Of course his collar was loose.
2. Not calling the person that entrusted their pet with you immediately to help in the search efforts - especially with inclement weather approaching. My father has a cell phone and they had all of his numbers. The fact that no attempt was made at all sickens me. Knuckle may have come to my father - but not to a bunch of strangers.

Poor puppy.

Tomorrow is Daddy's birthday - he never ever tells me anything to get for him and this year he had asked for some training stuff for the puppy. This blows.
