My four favorite words in the English language:
Written. By. David. Fury.
I was afraid - I really was. This episode frightened me. This episode also marks the first time in history that Xander was in danger and Dawn screamed louder than me. Nice to know that the Xander-love wears off on others. Now the rest of you; feel the Xander-love, feel it... - Sorry, I do tend to get sidetracked.
Okay - Slayers-In-Waiting. Some are annoying and some are cute (just like real teenage girls - cept w/ better skin) - I like the little Spaz (Molly?). I was glad Southern Beauty Pageant Slayer turned out to be evil. Although I knew she was evil from the start. Those Pageant girls always all (and don't tell me you didn't see it. She spoke like she was answering questions in the final portion of the "I'm pretty but also deep and caring" section of the Miss America contest. Although the accent was kinda all sorts of wrong...) Dawn is sad the Southern girl had to die. She wanted her to look at Spike and tell Buffy, "Okay, when you die, if I am the chosen one, does that mean I get to fuck your boyfriend, too?" I guess you can say it in another accent, but it loses effect. Combine that with a raised eyebrow and I'd be rolling. Course, I'm easily amused...
"Facing my fear. I'm facing my fear. Hear that fear? I'm facing you." I love Willow so much.
Best thing about this episode: Buffy kicked ass. I love serious ass-kicking Buffy and Fury can load me down with it. We also got a great moment with the core Scoobies as a plan was worked out (perfect for vidding cause no one's talking! Yay for silence) and nice Giles/Anya interaction.
Dawn thought it was important that Buffy told the Slayers-In-Waiting, "Here endeth the lesson." - essentially quoting Spike. I reminded her that she also quoted Tina Turner in that scene and while "We Don't Need Another Hero" sounds like a good vid idea now, it most likely isn't.
Problems with this episode:
Kennedy. I may like her. I most likely don't, but a good attitude does go far in my book. Too soon to say about her for sure, but this is certain: she is soooo not ready for Willow. She has no idea what she is dealing with there. Please, the only person I know of in Jossverse that can take on Willow would be Faith.
Fury normally writes my favorite Spike. I felt the Spike we got here was not up to his usual par - but that is okay since I was all distracted by KickAssBuffy. Also, when did Buffy and her death affect the slayer line - Bufy was removed from that line a long time ago. Dawn thinks Buffy is going to be this grand sacrifice in the end and I say that is redundant and they are leading us there way to soon. It has to be a red herring. Plus, it doesn't jibe with my belief that it is all Spike and his stupid soul's fault - cause Amends tells us that a souled vamp is important to the First Evil. Then Dawn postulated that maybe if has to be a souled vampire that the slayer loves and I threw a pillow at her for being stupid.
That being said I kinda liked the reunion. It didn't suck (Awww...they have matching wounds. Ain't that sweet?). I don't think Fury wrote it though. It has Jane all over it.
Things I want to see in episode 12:
Spike in a boarded up house filled with teenage girls who all seem to stare at him non-stop (or they could just be extremely loud and bothering his delicate sensibilities) looks up and says, "Can I move back in with Xander?"
Faith. Really. I think is high time she show up, or someone goes and fetches her. She has been in prison for like a bazillion years already. She learned her lesson, see? All better now.
