Sometimes her supposed perfection lends itself to the story. She's the personification of a high school boy's first love, and just as unattainable. However, I don't think they should have kept her in that mold for more than one season. They're not stepping up to the plate and giving her any more dimension (like they have with the other characters), so it's just the same old song over and over. I suspect the creators of Smallville are a little in love with Kristen Kreuk. I feel pretty backed-up in this belief by the Season 1 DVD commentary. It's too bad, really.
