Help Me Make Pretend Vids

Okay, I need help and I need it bad.

::joneses::

I need the lyrics to Jay Farrar's song "Doesn't Have to Be this Way" - it is the first track off his new solo album "Stone, Steel & Bright Lights" and I am not having any luck searching for the lyrics because I keep getting side-tracked by the Wilco stuff cause I remember when that shit happened and I just spent an hour reading something about Jeff Tweedy and dude - that has nothing to do with finding out if these song lyrics support the story in my head or not.

It occurs to me that the lyrics might possibly be in the liner notes but who has that kind of time? I need them now!

::deep breath::

It has gotten extremely quiet in my office all of a sudden. Scary quiet like right before a tornado hits. Considering what has been going on - that is a very fair analogy. We were told yesterday that all vacations have been cancelled until further notice. No one is bringing up Labor Day for fear that it will go away as well and it looks like we are gonna need all the rest we can get this weekend. I also plan on vidding in my head a lot as I won't be home much. So - if I start spamming LJ even more than usual, that is why.

To anyone who may be reading this and is *still* in Florida... dear god be careful.
[ETA: well - in the areas currently under evacuation. DUDES - A HURRICANE THE SIZE OF TEXAS! TEXAS IS A BIG-ASS STATE!]

::sits and watches hurricane move with dread::

::hurricane takes own sweet time and just gets bigger::

::thinks about vids in head instead::

Many official sites have lyrics, and some of his songs have the lyrics posted, but not this song/album.

However, if you have speakers at work, you can stream that track: http://www.jayfarrar.net/discs/index.htm

Thanks -I've got it already - and I love it - and it is already a story in my head - there is some lyrical confusion though - I need to know exactly what part of this song says. I know what I think it is saying.

And dude - I got lost on his website earlier. Now I want to got to the AMA conference in Nashville.

Eh, I'm just bored and stuck at work. I thought maybe you just didn't have it with you.

And I know I'm not good at hearing lyrics -- but I'm even worse than I thought. [livejournal.com profile] jmtorres pointed out that the theme song to Charmed?

"I am the son, and the heir"

NOT

"I am the sun, and the air"

I had no idea. None. I never even questioned.

::boggles::

Well - that is just the problem with homonyms now isn't it?

I knew it was son and heir only cause a couple of years ago I was convinced it was about Wesley and looked up the lyrics. I really hate Charmed for using and ruining that song for so much. They had no right...

All that stuff with the hurricane makes me really glad I live in Arizona now. All we really have to worry about is the heat and occasionally flash floods, but nothing major.

When I lived in the midwest I used to have panic attack every time there was a tornado warning. Hell I still do, we get warnings out here every so often and I freak out.

My condolances to everyone in Florida was well... I can't even imagine.

When I lived in New Orleans - any time there was a hurricane or a tropical storm or if it was just a slow news day in hurricane season, they would show these "what if a category 5 storm moved directly over the city" computer simulations and the short answer would be that "WE ALL DIE!!!" followed by water surges that rival "Deep Impact" -- mainly because the city is surrounded by water and Lake Ponchatrain is pissed at us anyway.

The end result was this never ending vague worry all the time.

The one time I did evacuate (with the rehabilitation facility I worked for) it took us hours and hours to get out of the city. It was miserable.

My mom lives in a double-wide directly in Frances' path. She's in a shelter, though. *crosses fingers*

And I'm no good with lyrics. Besides, I'm trying to figure out how to explain, briefly but in detail, an extremely complicated process in a concise and accessable email. The assignment, we are all agreed, is to make sure we cover all bases without overwhelming the reader with too much detail.

Guess what idiot volunteered to do the first draft?

Lum always says to start with "This is your mouse..."

And fingers are crossed for your mom!

Lum always says to start with "This is your mouse..."

LOL! Fortunately, the audience is a little too sophisticated to need that much detail.

I'm going to be glued to the Weather Channel and the phone this weekend, I think. I hope things go as well as possible, for you, for my mom, and for everyone in Florida.

I'm in Northwest ish Florida so I'm out of hte way of Frances. I'm not sure what the latest prediction is but we should only see Tropical Storm level winds and lots and lots and lots of rain. There is an outside chance it will come through as a Category 1 hurricane, but we'll see.
