Do you think that the coffin-box-thing was keyed to open for Fred specifically, or that Knox just had it delivered to her and counted on her natural curiosity to open it? because if the latter is true, then anyone could have opened it and became the host body. Can you imagine an Illyria/Spike hybrid? Besides putting the cool make-up on the other actors, would Fred (or someone else not) being alive have made a difference in the outcome of the final fight? It would have changed a lot for Wes, at least, and depending on who it was...
