NEW Vid!!! Smallville

It is finished. Whew.

Okay, so one day I am over at [livejournal.com profile] seperis's site and I'm all trying to make her QaF WIP "How It's Gonna Be" update by staring at it and I realize that she has written just a ton of Smallville stories and I like Smallville okay and I was bored, so I read one. And then I read another. This then became a habit...habit, addiction, it is all semantics really. A few days later I realize that the combination of both "Shattered" airing and Jenn's stories have sucked me into yet another fandom. Cool.

So here is my first Smallvile vid - and I have to say that if it were not for my betas [livejournal.com profile] sockkpuppett and [livejournal.com profile] renenet, this vid would not even be finished or make sense or well - without ya'll, I am nothing.

rec'd this in my journal last night

I saw!! I also bounced around the room a few times. Considering "Concrete" is *my* favorite look at Lex, I am really excited that you liked it.

Considering "Concrete" is *my* favorite look at Lex

*jaw drop* Really?!

In all honesty, last night I said this to a friend, and I quote from the email: "If I had known she was going to get hooked on SV and make this vid, I never would have attempted Concrete. She hit all the themes I wanted to hit and a thousand more besides, layer after layer, and it's so beautiful. I didn't have the technical skill or vision to get it together, but she transcended any idea anyone has ever had about Lex and Clark and put it all together perfectly."

So, you know. That means a lot, coming from you. Thanks. *g*

Nto really into Smallville, but am into Placebo. A very emotionally effecting vid, especially the latter half with the weird falshes of...stuff. And the...stuff. :sigh: Smallville not my strong suit, as I said. But very dramatically done.

Got here via [livejournal.com profile] permetaform's rec.

This is simply beautiful. Kudos!

OMFG

I am so very, very in love with this video.

I could watch it a hundred times and not get tired of it. And I'm well on my way to proving that, believe me. :)

Everyone else commented quite well on all the reasons *why* it rocks, so I'll just throw in an echo of just how very much it truly does. I want to show this video to every person who's stopped watching Smallville so they'll know what they're missing. Except, of course, the show at it's best has never come close to being as *fantastic* as this video was.

I really, really, *really* love it.

Thanks - I'll check it out :) Because who needs to study for exams, anyway...

Oh my God.

I'm another person who came here at [livejournal.com profile] permetaform's urging, and...I'm speechless. This is brilliant. I've never had a vid reduce me to tears before, but...wow. Thank you so, so much for sharing it with us.

Ohh! The pain.. the rage.. the friendship! It horrified and disturbed me a bit around 3:20 with its intenseness. Also -- I loved the coloring.

This is stunning. Stunning. There are vids, and then there's art. I mean...holy shit. I have only ever seen one other SV vid this beautiful, this clever, this painful and deft and huge and created; I never expected anything could possibly top that but there you go.

It aches. I'm going to cry, but thankyou. There is the story with just images - and the way you bleached out the colours on the moments that were the bones of the relationship, like the looks and the touches between them, the moment when Lex smiles saturated out like a photo overxposed and he cut to the flaming sun, gaaah. And then you bring back in some colours of outside but there weren't many, just the washes of blue, and black, the red, the touches of green, and the moments of glow. The use of 'tick...tock', oh my GOD. That song is perfect, btw.

And I love how it's not all faces, it's symbols, too; the colours, the necklace, the meteors, the shot of Cark and Lex facing each other in Shattered with Martha and Jonathon in between...
That's why it's so huge; because you cover everything so far AND the future. It feels like taking a deep breath in. There's character, absolutely, and the outside influences and the futures and insides: the layers, and you've given it music and words without speaking and it...gah. Incoherence, now.

Shutting up.

I love you.

Oh, my God. This is, without doubt, the most spectacular vid I've ever seen. Absolutely *brilliant.*

That was beautiful.

I hate that this fandom makes me hurt so much, but that was just ... beautiful. Cannot believe that was your first SV video. You must have like, magical powers or something. ^^

Though of course, reading Jenn's SV stories would give anyone enough inspiration to make pretty heartbreaking things. Cos, y'know, she rocks.

Also, that song is now going to make me cry every time I hear it, as opposed to just making me blue.

Thank you so much for sharing such a wonderful video.

I'm thoroughly amazed by this, not just the technical aspects but the heart and power of it. Our little fandom is so much richer for your contribution, and your mad vidding skillz are an inspiration. I'm so glad you got sucked into our epic world! ::bows and scrapes::

[identity profile] frelling-tralk.livejournal.com 2004-02-01 11:18 am (UTC)(link)
Wow. A truly fantastic video. Now that is why I watch fan videos! A fascinating interpretation of Lex and CLark's future and one of my favourite videos ever. Thank you so much for sharing :)

[identity profile] laurashapiro.livejournal.com 2004-02-01 12:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Wonderful. Smooth, haunting, making great use of the show's gorgeous visuals for your own dark purposes. I love the swirly clouds, Baby!Clark reaching to Baby!Lex on "instant correlation", and the way Lionel keeps appearing where Clark disappears.

You've got a great dramatic build toward the climax, with the tempo of your cuts escalating as the pain gets more intense. Yet it doesn't feel jarring so much as inevitable. Oh, the beautiful angst. (:

Amazing work.

[identity profile] lastscorpion.livejournal.com 2004-02-01 12:57 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG! That was wonderful! It makes Smallville look like a *much* better and deeper show than I think it really is! LOL!

[identity profile] imaginarytiff.livejournal.com 2004-02-01 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh man. Please say you're gonna be sticking around in this fandom for awhile. *g* I can die happily worshipping the amazingness that is this video. Thank you so much for the making and the sharing of it!!

Followed [livejournal.com profile] permetaform's rec here. Fantastic and intense vid, beautiful editing. I'm kicking myself for accidentally missing all the Jan. episodes, and seeing this vid made it a little better. (Or maybe worse, because now I really want to see 'em.)

[identity profile] catheights.livejournal.com 2004-02-01 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
One of my LJ friends posted an entry about how great this vid was, so I decided to take a peak. WOW! I've only seen a handful of Smallville eps, but watching your video makes me want to find all the episodes out there and lock myself somewhere until I've watched them all. The song choice, the clips, the way you blend them together, all show the connection between these two men, and all of it screams out to my angsty little soul that I should check this show out. Brilliant work. Thanks for sharing it.

WOW!! really, really awsome! ^_~
