Strange But True...

Did you know that Chip Taylor, the dude who wrote "Angel of the Morning" is also Jon Voight's little brother? And that makes him Angelina Jolie's uncle. He also wrote "Wild Thing" but that doesn't have nearly the emotional impact of "Angel of the Morning."

What I need from all of this? I need Lyle Lovett to record a cover - a completely earnest, Juice Newtonesque cover - so that I can vid it. Or maybe Jack Black - he could really sell it, especially the break and then the "Baa-a--a----aaa-by!" part.

My Lord King Bad Vid songs seem to need to be harvested from Songs that Meant A Lot to Me (1981-1987 Edition). Any later than '87 and you are dabbling close to the age thirteen and while I am certain the crap that was soooo meaningful to me when I was thirteen is no less ridiculous than the crap that was meaningful to me at twelve, it doesn't matter. That crap still means waaaay too much to me. Even if it would make a really good vid...

I am shocked! Shocked, I say - that you do not have the Percy Faith version.

I take comfort in the knowledge that if Jack Black were to cover this song - someone on either of our flists would have that song in hand immediately.

No Jack Black - but if you need Pat Boone's "Smoke on the Water," I'm your gal.

It's quite useful - especially if you are interested in finding out what the actual words are. You can't fault Pat on his diction.

If you are looking for a really good Angel - Lord King Bad Vid, Pat's cover of "Love Hurts" is just so achingly tender it will make you weep. Weep, I tell you!

It also occurs to me that if you slowed Juice Newton's voice down a little bit, she would probably sound quite a bit like Lyle Lovett.
