Okay - so you know a television show is gonna be rough and dark when you turn to Battlestar Galactica as a pick-me-up in its wake. Cause you know - what'a a little annihilation of the human race compared to Carnivale's Pick a Number?

In other news: I forgot to watch House. Was this a bad thing? I still haven't seen Deadwood. I miss Sol. I have many posts about many things I need to write, but if you excuse me I am gonna go cry for lost souls right now.

That was really fucked up. I mean, I saw it coming from Babylon but that was really, really Fred's-Soul-On-A-Burning-Pyre fucked up.

Holy hell. That glimpse of Dora Mae at the window was possibly the most fucking disturbing thing I've *ever* seen on TV, including the Reavers, the Peacock family from that X-Files episode, "Home", the entirety of crazy Jossverse, all of The Sopranos and Doc Cochran shoving a metal stick up Al's penis. Carnivale has been trying hard to out-disturb that moment since, but not successfully, IMO. God, the expression on Samson's face. GAH.

*shudders*

Oh God, I remember watching that. I think I'd name Pick a Number as one of my favorite episodes of TV show ever, just because it disturbed me so much. So damn good.

Also, I think it was the first episode that got me to really feel something for other members of the carnival besides Sofie and Ben, and it was the first time that I ever felt a real connection with Samson.

Sometimes I think about that last shot and shiver.

I love that scene.

Creepiest, saddest, squickiest scene ever.

The power of Art to move us writ large.
