(no subject)

I just spent forever and a day on an entry about vidding and song interpretation and the Keanu Factor and now... it disappeared.

FUCK.

You know, if "The Keanu Factor" were a Vividcon Panel, I would totally sign up to go.

Is it too late to suggest it? And in the course of suggesting it - I would have to explain what, exactly the Keanu Factor is and that requires examples from movies like The Matrix and Johnny Mnemonic and actually goes a long way in explaining Will Smith and also *why* we need Bruce Willis. And how this applies to vidding.

We need to Keanu our viewers so they are comfortable - ya know? This involves literal interpretation and falling into audience expectations.

The title of the lost post was "Keanu Reeves is to Vidding As Patrick Swayze is to Collating"

Does Evil Ted factor in somehow?

We could make it factor in - I have faith in us!

So, I'm not sure what that means, but he sure is purty.

However, it's your fault that this got me to thinking of a potential crossover with The Matrix and Office Space. That's totally where Mr. Anderson worked, for one thing, what with the cubicles and the really shitty boss, and he really should have just snuck in the back way, and then no one would be the wiser, and what the hell did he do there anyway, besides collate TPS reports? And? He had no stapler because THERE IS NO STAPLER.

I think that there could be a vid in there, if I could find the song, and DON'T suggest Take This Job and Shove It, although White Rabbit.... hmmm...

I happen to think "Birth, School, Work, Death" is about Fight Club, Office Space, and Dead Like Me -- and now I think it is about The Matrix as well. Damn your brain.

Sigh.

Basically the Keanu factor is that he gives the audience exactly what they expect - there are no real surprises with him, so the audience can relax and absorb the *actual* unexpected twists and turns of the plot. He is a comforting presence amongst the strangeness much like literal interpretation/expected lyrical interpretation can help ease an audience into a difficult portion of the vid -- same principle as your "blind them with candy and then gut them like fishies" technique, but with Keanu.

*head explodes as the time/space continuum shifts and brings two previously unrelated BSOs together*

You've wrecked me for the day.

Well, just think about it. You know that Peter really hates his job because they took his mouth away as a disciplinary measure. He doesn't remember it, but the hatred of the job is the same. (Not that you need to have an Agent take your mouth away to hate working in a lifeless, fluorescently-lit hell hole, though.) Since I've been thinking about it, I believe that the occupational hypnotist really offered Peter a red pill and a blue pill, and he took the blue pill and forgot everything, and was filled with a sense of well-being, which manifested itself in not giving a shit about his job.

For a while there, I thought Michael Bolton may know the secret of the Matrix, but I can't image his residual body image looking that bad. What got me going was "PC Load Letter!!" That has to be a code of some sort.

No, indeed. Though it often feels like that, anyway.

Sounds about right. Where can I get one of those blue happy pills?

For a while there, I thought Michael Bolton may know the secret of the Matrix, but I can't image his residual body image looking that bad.

Maybe he just has more important things to worry about than his residual body image. You know men, they don't have the body image issues women do. They think they're hot no matter how dumpy they are in reality.

I am just mad crazy about your brain.
